On January 8 was held the 'II Trofeo Iberitos', a championship of women's regional teams in senior category, organized by the Extremadura Football Federation.

This Sunday, the Celestino Mera field in Don Benito vibrated with the celebration of the II Iberitos Trophy, an event born in 2019 under the sponsorship of our Extremadura food company Iberitos. Hundreds of spectators defied the cold and rain to be present at this great celebration of women's soccer in our region. On this occasion, as a novelty, the tournament was aimed at the lower categories, developing as a championship of women's regional selections in the fry category.

In 2019, our Extremadura food company, Iberitos became the integral sponsor of all women's soccer competitions organized by the FEXF, as well as the Extremadura women's national teams.

Five women's teams from different parts of the region competed in this championship. Being, in addition, a day of coexistence with women's soccer as the real protagonist and serving as a test bench for the Extremadura team that in 2023 will compete in the Championship of Spain.

A total of 75 players divided into 5 combined zones participated in the tournament, which was played as a group with short matches, all under the watchful eye of the regional U-12 coach, Ana Aguinaco, in charge of making the Extremadura team that will compete in the Spanish Championship of the category.

The regional selection of Tierra de Barros/Sur was proclaimed winner of the II Iberitos Trophy with the following results:

At the end of the matches, a trophy ceremony was held in the presence of the vice-president of the Extremadura Football Federation, Ángeles Aguilera, the sports councilor of the City Council of Don Benito, Pedro Parejo, and the representative of Iberitos, Luis Caballeros.
